Arghhh! Zombies, well kind of…

See in this article from BBC, it says that ‘mosquitoes native to that region carrying a new strain of Malaria which thus far has a 100 percent mortality rating killing victims in fewer than 2 days. After death, this virus is able to restart the heart of it’s victim for up to two hours after the initial demise of the person where the individual behaves in extremely violent ways from what is believe to be a combination of brain damage and a chemical released into blood during “resurrection.”’

So yeah I’ve seen resident evil and I know how this turns out, if we all avoid going to South-East Asia, then there will be no zombies and we can all sleep soundly.

Anyway here are some more links:

NMAP if you haven’t heard of this prog, then you should probably download it. Its a port scanner that can be used to detect vulnerabilities in your or other peoples system, now the only catch it that its command based so if your in winNT, 2000, or XP type “cmd” in the Run box, if you are running 95, 98 etc type “command” in the abovesaid box. If you use a *nix based system, then you probably already have it, just try it in your shell.

MIT people are crazy

Okay… the guys at MIT were busy constructing a disco dance floor for a dance they were having. The floor itself is 128 square feet! It involves the operation of 1,536 LEDs that were hand soldered, it can render 4,096 colours, can be controlled through xmms, handles 30fps. FYI there were approx 20,000 hand soldered connections which is a lot of work. They have a whole story of the constuction and an ‘epilogue’… which is interesting at the least, however if you know the guys at MIT, it makes sense…

definately work checking out.

So my cousin provided me with a link to a debian based distro called Ubuntu which according to the site comes from an African word meaning “humanity to others”. I checked it out and it seems solid, and the best part is, that you get it free, and I’m not just talking about downloads, you can actually get them to send you out as many copies as you like for nothing (not even the shipping cost). There are 3 variations you can get it for x86, powerPC or AMD64 architectures. so what are you waiting for… oh of course… the link!

Let’s get this started!

I’m Praetorian_TMOTC… this is my blog…

Here’s a bit about myself. I have completed Diplomas in Network Management, Network Engineering, and an Advanced Diploma in E-Security. I enjoy hacking anything just for fun or to make it more efficient… at this point I should point out that I am not referring to hacking as in what the media portrays it. I mean modifying something from its original state, in this sense you could consider the guy down the street that does up his car a hacker.

I’m hoping that this will become one of your favourite sites to visit. I’m going to try to make this an enjoyable site that will talk about technology, and the latest on the web. Throughout the site you will notice that there will be a links section every few days, these are my finds after searching the web. I’ll also try to get interesting articles up here ASAP. Occasionally I will discuss certain issues that are either concerning me or just that captured my attention.

To start this off here is a few links for you:

Well I think that that’s enough for a first post, enjoy and remember to bookmark this site (CTRL + D)
